The Principal Investigator 

Dr. Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana Tech University, where he leads research at the intersection of additive manufacturing, materials, mechanics, and machine learning. His work focuses on developing adaptive and multifunctional systems by integrating bio-inspired design and simulation to develop intelligent structures capable of interacting with their environments in real-time. Through his AM³ Lab, Dr. Rahman explores material and manufacturing innovations with applications in civil, marine, automotive, and aerospace structures, often combining fabrication, modeling, and data-driven analysis. His group, including graduate and undergraduate students, aims to continue to push the boundaries of materials and systems that are not only smart but also sustainable and human-centered.
